Rumours are always quite the good way to capture one curious Cass. However, an even better way are her pokémon, one of which has decided to venture out into the night and so she had to follow along, of course. Her Grafaiai Dermot's leading the charge, with her, her Trubbish Jon in her arms, of course, following. "Dermot, where the hell are you going to?" she asks as she jogs behind the surprisingly fast monkey, just to find that they apparently aren't alone as they come to a halt in front of a ... house?

"Oh, you're- you're Kazuya? From the Vital City Tournament- I'm Cass, if you remember."

The man believed in an afterlife. He also practiced respect for those who passed beyond the veil. Typically, he would leave the spectral uninterrupted. Perhaps offer a nod to a ghost as he passed by. But that was not the case when these spirits sought to harm or subjugate others. His mother had taught him some exorcism techniques, though he’d neglected to pursue any shrine training beyond that.

This particular town was important to him. He had spent many years playing in these very alleys. Tales that these streets were filled not with laughter but restless souls twisted his heart. While he could not find peace for himself—for war had tainted him—some part of him wished to give it to others.

When Cass stumbles upon him, stands att the corner of what was a happy home. A real estate sign is posted out front, but it’s apparent it’s been there a while. Its little steel peg legs are dulled with rust. His Bewear is lifted on its stout little legs. Beady eyes peer into the house in search of his so-called opponent. When the girl appears, the bear barely spares it a glance.

"I remember." He tried to never forget an opponent. A mitt-sized hand rose for pause.

“Kazu.” This girl has no reason to stand on formality. "Please." The scary bear offered up a soft smile.

"Kazu then," Cass repeats with a faint smile, also looking at the Bewear with the same. She is well-aware that the pokémon could crush her without any effort, but she's oddly calm in its presence still. "Do you know that house?" she asks, pointing ahead of her, squinting slightly as she tries to see things in the dimly lit darkness.

And, well, then.

"Dermot, for gods-!" she hastily runs after her Grafaiai that has jumped towards the house, seemingly in pursuit of something - and perhaps, almost seeming possessed-?! She does manage to snatch him up before he could actually enter the house, though that also means she's standing in front of that door now. "That is. Very spooky," she comments, her hand absent-mindedly going to the phone in her pocket.

“Thanks.” The modulator speaks back after a moment. It’s nice to find a kid who didn’t immediately stiffen seeing him. It probably helped that when he supposedly did his crimes, this girl would have been in diapers. Seeing her eyes slip to the Bewear, Kazuya’s smile grew. “That’s Natsu.” He didn’t call him harmless though. No Yoshida got far making stuff up.

Her question makess the man turn toward the house. Even though he’d been leaning against it, he hadn’t taken a good look at it. “I’m afraid not.” The man says after a moment. “It must have been built since I came here last.” Or there was a corner of this rinky-dink town he’d somehow missed. “Kind of strange actually.” Though the house looked new it also felt ancient. Like someone had dipped it in coffee to age it.

Golden eyes slid to the Grafaiai. He saw its muscles bunched. And predicted its leap. “Ah!” The man dove forward as if to catch Dermot. But the girl was faster. In that moment, he didn’t notice as his bear shuddered. “Spooky how?” The normally beaded eyes emptied. They resembled those of a hunting Sharpedo. “What’s wrong?”

Before anyone could answer, the Bewear charged the door. Wood exploded from the collision as Natsu’s muscular body sent it flying off its hinges.

The house sighed.

"Natsu, right!" Cass smiles faintly in the spooky atmosphere surrounding them, with Jon also giving his previous opponent a little wave. Her Grafaiai Dermot demands attention then, however, as he suddenly leaps. After successfully securing him, Cass smiles at Kazu for also attempting to help catch that little rascal, though he doesn't seem to pick up on the spooky vibes.

Unlike Natsu, who then fully charges the door. "YE!" Cass yelps, before shivering once more as the house seems to sigh. "Yeah, there's some ghost pokémon working here-" Cass murmurs as she hears a cackle from the empty hallway, seemingly beckoning them to come closer and enter.

And she feels herself moving before she could actually process what's going on.

HAUNTING ON A HILL

CASSANDRA X KAZUYA

THE CACKLING LURES CASSANDRA CLOSER AND CLOSER. Wood splinters scattered Kazuya Yoshida's BEWEAR rattle around her crawling, controlless shoes.

"come. come closer. closer!"

A deep human-like voice beckons for her. Curtains billow at the end of the hallway, their delicate, lace patterns betraying little, only darkness behind their veil. As she nears them, Kazuya Yoshida may be able to see a GOLDEN RING'S BORDER flanking either side of the corridor, granting him advance notice or time to warn or save Cassandra Kubrick.

From the curtains, a HOOPA emerges, wreathed in spectral shadows, its eyes bloodred. Despite its fearsome launch, the Djinn is in its spritely form.

With a cackle, the HOOPA attempts to grab Cassandra Kubrick or Jon, the Trubbish, through the curtain. Behind the curtain is no window, but a steep fall off a jagged cliff.

Should and when Cassandra Kubrick and Kazuya Yoshida avoid peril, the HOOPA will laugh:

"no fun! no fun at all! can't i have my fun while there's time? not a lot more to go. soon the sky will burn and none of you will know!"

The HOOPA will eventually depart, leaping through a ring.
